Te Mahuru Retreat

Eight Bedrooms & Six Bathrooms

The HOP weekend & Christmas 2024 is Available.

We can accommodate up to 19 people with 8 bedrooms, with 12 beds, in 6 various suites, each with their own private full bathroom.

We have 3 queen suites, 1 super-king + single beds suite, 1 two-bedroom suite with a queen & 2 single beds, also a 2-bedroom cottage with 2 queens & two singles (trundle bed)

I block off rooms during holiday periods to be able to accommodate large bookings. If you would like to check a certain date please call me as you may not find your date available online.

Full Kitchen and BBQs

We have a fully stocked kitchen in the lodge and a kitchenette in the cottage with BBQs and beautiful furniture on the decks in both areas. This allows you the ability to cook and relax with your family, friends & coworkers

Large entertaining space inside and out

Te Mahuru is on two beautifully landscaped acres with plenty of room to play and relax, day and night. We have various actives including a hot tub, lawn bowls, cricket, & free bikes to use

Make Your retreat your way

Work Retreat

With our size and location Te Mahuru is the perfect private place to hold your work retreat. We have a large dining area to seat your entire group, plus breakout areas, team building activities can be arranged and can be fully or partially catered.

If you are flying into the area I suggest Blenheim where I can arrange a classic car wine tour then jump onto the Flyer Steam Train to Kaikoura where we will pick you up from the train station.

Yoga Retreat

Te Mahuru is comprised of 2 beautifully landscaped acres with breathtaking views of the mountains and filled with native birds. This quite tranquil space is ideal for hosting your own yoga retreat. There is a full kitchen to use or we can arrange catering.

High Tea

Te Mahuru Retreat hosts High Tea’s on wedding lawn and patio and have a tour of the gardens. Walking Forks caters the events with their beauitful and tasty treats.

Birthdays

Celebrating a big birthday? With space for up to 19 people you can celebrate for a couple of days instead of a just a couple of hours. Giving you the time and space to Relax and Reconnect with your family and friends

Family Reunions

Te Mahuru has the ability to hold various size families with giving you enough room to all spend time together while still giving you your own privacy and bathrooms.

Last minute booking after trip to Golden Bay cancelled with the rains. Felt very lucky to find somewhere so lovely. We stayed in the cottage; so very private and cosy. Good heating, good shower. Beautiful views. Well equipped kitchen. Very very comfy bed. Hot tub was wonderful. Everything you could need, basically. Lots of breakfast goodies. Get pizza from Black Rabbit, it's phenomenal! Highly recommend staying at this lovely place.

I recently but unexpectedly found myself officiating as A Marriage Celebrant at Te Mahuru and my impression of the whole experience was without question exemplary... Jen and Paul were more than accommodating under extreme conditions ..but because of their understanding professional experience..the day went perfectly.. This place and its owners are without doubt the best in Kaikoura for a Wedding Ceremony ..but any function would experience the best hospitality you could wish for... it was indeed a pleasure .. Jen is the best hostess, very welcoming and friendly. Room's well equipped, immaculate and very comfortable. Thoughtfull attention to detail, even flower's on bedside table. Hot tub so relaxing & great to star gaze. Breakfast yummy, home made jams and bread. Other guest's also friendly. Lovely garden. Highly recommend, definitely stay there again.

Lovely B and B. Very comfy (softer than many hotels) beds. Huge too! Jen is a wonderful host who even baked a fresh loaf of bread for breakfast. Lots of games to play if the weather isn't great too. We'll be back.

We had a fantastic stay at Te Mahuru. Nothing was too much trouble, Jen was a fantastic host and we had everything we needed for a lovely, relaxing stay. The Spa Pool and gardens were wonderful for the girls. The trampoline and Star swings were brilliant. Waking up to that view every morning, was just fantastic. We stayed here with our 3 and 5yo. Its perfect for kids with a lovely big garden and so nice and warm and cozy. Such incredible views of the mountains. Try the hot tub at night whilst enjoying a view of the stars. Would definitely come back here - Kaikoura is a very special place.

This place was a real find. A convenient location if you dont need/ want to be walking distance to town and enjoy the peace of the surrounding farm land. Clean, homely and the fresh eggs for breakfast were a lovely touch!
